Haven’t had a chance to go out and do a proper “shoot” with the car, but here it is as photographed the day I test drove it on Saturday, 26 Jul 2014.
Picked the car up the following Saturday (02 Aug 2014), and had an uneventful ~80 mile drive home.
The basics are as follows: The car is a 1977 911S with a transplanted 3.2 out of an 1986 Carrera mated to a 915 of unknown year. Approximately seven years and 19,000 miles ago it was given a bare-metal restoration, during which it received the transplanted engine as well as 930 fenders (steel), a new interior, and all manner of upgrades both mechanical and aesthetic. I’ll post a full list of its modifications in a future post.
The car puts down a claimed 300hp, and I’ve no doubt of that figure; pulls very hard. Its ride is very firm but not a backbreaker. Shift action is good with predictable clutch take-up, but it’s also a less-than-modern transmission, so everything is very deliberate. Car feels very well-sorted, no major leaks, and appears to have been well maintained. In short, very happy with the car, and look forward to many years of ownership.
Hi. Everything about my 911 (and others) will be posted to these tubes.
Cheers,
